This is used to calculate any percentage we want from a known value. Here ‘X’ may be of any value, and ‘Y’ is a known value.

Formula: (X/100) x Y
For example, 3% of 50 = (3/100) x 50 = 1.5
150% of 50 = (150/100) x 50 = 75

Method 2: X is what percent of Y
This is used to know what is the percentage of the value ‘X’ in ‘Y’.

Formula: (100/Y) x X
For example, 3 is what percent of 50 = (100/50) x 3 = 6%
150 is what percent of 50 = (100/50) x 150 = 300%

Method 3: X is Y% of what
This is used to find the final value where we have a part of the final value ‘X’ and the percentage of this part is Y% in the final value.

Formula: (X/Y) x 100
For example, 3 is 50% of what? = (3/50) x 100 = 6
50 is 150% of what? = (50/150) x 100 = 33.333
